John had to leave early for work today and after he had left Ava (who sleeps in our bed) sat up and said sleepily, "Where did Daddy Pig go?" then she quietly laid back down and went right back to sleep. Daddy Pig!? HA!!! I am used to "Where's Daddy? or Where Daddy go?" but Daddy Pig had me cracking up! You see her new favorite show is Peppa Pig on NickJr. It is a family of pigs (British Pigs at that) and the parents are called Daddy and Mommy Pig! So, obviously little Ava was dreaming of the show! What a GOOF!
Today Madison has O.T. Yesterday she had P.T. Yesterdays sessions went "so-so." She did great and was focused for half the session, then Ava got in her personal space and she just lost it. So, her therapist and I knew the session was over. Madison gets to do new and interesting things with her therapies so Ava is naturally curious, but Madison does not like Ava in her space- whether it's during therapy or not.... so when Ava came over to "play" with Madison, she just lost it. Frustrated, over-stimulated, unable to utter a word, Madison just starts to cry. To some, this may be startling, but to us it's the norm. When Madison finds herself in a situation where her sensory system can't process other's (or her own) actions, movements, words, or social norms she gets frustrated and loses it in a tantrum style-crying spree. It is what it is and in summer we are taking her to a neuro-psychologist to begin to test for autism. For now, we are continuing with her therapies and trying to do the very best for Madison every single day.
Love the Daddy Pig comment!
